Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF)
What is PEMF Therapy?
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy uses bursts of low-level electromagnetic frequencies to pass through the skin and penetrate into the fascia, lymph, muscles, organs, tendons, ligaments, and bone.
This amazing technology is a non-invasive way to invigorate the natural repair mechanisms of the body to promote healing and regeneration. The specific PEMF device we utilize is FDA registered and scientifically-proven to increase microcirculation and vasomotion. I’ll explain those big words later, but it means blood will flow better to your capillaries which deliver oxygen and nutrients to your cells (about 4 cells per micro-vessel).
Health Benefits of PEMF
Any condition which would benefit from increased oxygen/nutrient delivery can be improved by PEMF therapy. Once the body’s cells are better supplied, they can then do what they are designed to do such as; fight disease and infection, heal wounds, decrease pain and inflammation, provide energy, and regenerate cellular growth.
This increased cellular support facilitates
- Increased physical and mental performance
- Reduction of recovery time in sports training
- Faster healing of wounds or sports injuries
- Improved neurovascular function
- Better sleep
- Greater absorption of nutrients
- Enhanced digestive health
Microcirculation
The capillary network accounts for 74% of the blood vessels in our bodies (14.5% Veins & 11.5% Arteries). Microcirculation is the flow of blood through our capillary networks which are the smallest blood vessels in our bodies and allow oxygen and nutrients to flow through membranes into our cells. There is no other way to nourish our muscles, organs, and tissues.
Vasomotion
Our hearts need assistance from our blood vessels in the form of rhythmic contraction and relaxation of our blood vessels and the muscles at the base of our capillaries to get oxygenated, nutrient-rich blood to the cells which need it. This assistance is called vasomotion. The muscles at the base of our capillaries contract and relax quickly when we are young, but age, nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress and other lifestyle choices slow them down and can result in our cells receiving less oxygen and nutrients than they need to perform optimally. This can in turn contribute to cellular death or dysfunction leading to chronic, degenerative diseases or conditions.
Hold On! Aren’t EMFs Harmful?
You may have heard Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs) which come from electronics like mobile devices, microwaves, Bluetooth, and airplanes are harmful. PEMF therapy is different because it uses a frequency, duration, and power level which is similar to what is found in nature. The amount of radiation from our PEMF device is no more than you might experience during a thunderstorm and the duration is only 15-20 minutes.
